2025 Local Craft Competition

Description

The ABC Western Michigan Local Craft Competition, presented in partnership with the West Michigan Construction Institute (WMCI), highlights the achievements of apprentices who represent the future of commercial construction trades.

The competition includes a written exam that measures industry knowledge. This is followed by the hands-on portion under tight time constraints. Contestants are judged by members of top firms on safety, layout, compliance, appearance, and quality of workmanship.

The first place winner in each trade at the chapter level will go on to compete in the National Craft Championships during the ABC National Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah, in March 2026.

Thursday, December 4

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Written Assessment
4:00 pm Competitor tool setup

Friday, December 5

7:30 am - 7: 45 am Competitor Arrival
7:45 am - 8:30 am Welcome, Breakfast, Competition Overview
8:30 am - 12:30 pm Practical Assessment (guests/spectators welcome)
12:30 pm - 1:30 pm Lunch & Awards (employers and guests welcome - please register)
